The Mengma Waterfall in Menglian County is situated about 3 kilometers southeast of the Mengma Town government, hidden within a sea of green. It lies along the middle and lower reaches of the Mengma Stream. By traveling north from Mengma Xiaozhai village and following the stream upstream, you’ll enter a valley filled with lush trees, thick undergrowth, hanging vines, swaying bamboo, birdsong, and a serene atmosphere. The crystal-clear stream meanders through the shaded woods, splashing into small cascades that are 1 to 10 meters high. After walking about 1.7 kilometers upstream, you’ll hear the thunderous roar of falling water. On a steep cliff of the streambed, approximately 35 meters high and 5 meters wide, the stream plunges down like a white silk suspended in the sky or a Milky Way cascading from above. The water fills the deep cliff face, then hurtles down through the air, spraying foam into the pool below.

Within dozens of meters around the waterfall, the misty spray creates a cool and refreshing atmosphere. At the base of the falls, there is a semi-circular pool about 5–6 meters deep and roughly 30 square meters in area, clear and jade-like in color. In front of the pool, large rocks are piled up, forming rugged and oddly shaped stones, evoking the feeling of being “dazzled and spellbound, reluctant to leave despite the overwhelming emotion.”
