Loushanguan

Loushanguan is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a cultural relics protection unit of Guizhou Province, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The poem "Recall of the Maiden of Qin — Loushanguan," engraved by a tour guide on a stone tablet at Loushanguan, is Mao Zedong’s true account of the battle history:

West wind so strong, wild geese cry under the frosty morning moon.

Frosty morning moon, the sound of horses’ hooves is fragmented, bugle calls muffled.

The mighty pass is truly like iron, yet today we stride forward from the start.

From the start, dark mountains spread out like the sea, the setting sun blazes like blood. Highlights: Buses to Tongzi are in poor condition, dirty and without air conditioning. Usually, there are also taxis soliciting passengers near the station to Tongzi for 30 yuan per person, departing when four passengers are filled. Loushanguan is the most treacherous mountain pass in northern Guizhou, a strategic location contested by armies throughout history. It is located at the border of Zunyi and Tongzi counties, at an altitude of 1,445 meters. In 1935, the First Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army fought fiercely here and achieved a major victory. The Battle of Loushanguan was the Red Army's first significant triumph since the beginning of the Long March. Transportation: You can take a bus from Maocaopu Station to Tongzi County and get off at Loushanguan. The fare is 10–15 yuan.
