The Battle Sites of Honghuagang and Laoyashan These sites are located southwest of the old city, both at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. These towering and precipitous peaks offer a commanding view in all directions and have long been strategic military strongholds. In 1980, these sites were designated as municipal-level cultural heritage protection units by the municipal government.

On February 18, 1935, the Red Army crossed the Chishui River for the second time and retook Zunyi City at dawn on February 28. The Red Army engaged in fierce battles with the enemy in the areas of Honghuagang and Laoyashan. After an entire day of bloody combat, they finally defeated the enemy forces. During the battle, Deng Ping, Chief of Staff of the Third Corps, and Zhong Weijian, Chief of Staff of the Tenth Regiment, sacrificed their lives heroically. This campaign is historically known as the "Zunyi Campaign" and was the greatest victory achieved by the Red Army since the beginning of the Long March.
