Panshang Grassland Scenic Area

Panshang Grassland Scenic Area in Panxian County: Approved and announced by the provincial government in February 2000. Covering an area of 260 km², it includes the following scenic zones: Sigang Panshang Grassland Scenic Area, Gesuo River Gorge Scenic Area, and Shahe Karst Cave Scenic Area.

Sigang Panshang Grassland Scenic Area: Located within the territory of the two Yi ethnic townships, Sigang and Pingdi, in the northern part of Panxian County, at an altitude of 2000 to 2857 meters, with an area of about 90 km². Its main resources include 100,000 mu of grassland, 40,000 mu of dwarf rhododendron forests, as well as high-altitude lakes such as Changhaizi, the Niupengliangzi Mountain range, and the Beimaogou streams. These elements together form unique landscapes including rugged peaks, lake views, snow scenes, ornamental flora, and alpine hilly grassland scenery. This grassland is the highest and largest in Guizhou. In spring, the grass turns green, creating a lush carpet-like expanse; in summer, the thick green grass teems with cattle and sheep across the vast, boundless terrain, offering a spectacular sight. Among them, the high-altitude lake Changhaizi is 2000 meters long, 300 meters wide, with a water storage capacity of 1.218 million cubic meters. The water is crystal clear and transparent, with the lake surface sitting at an altitude of 2560 meters, making it the highest-altitude lake in Guizhou.
