The 2013 (4th) China Footwear and Apparel Industry E-Commerce Summit, jointly organized by the People's Government of Quanzhou City, the Quanzhou Economic and Trade Commission, Global Shoes Network, and the Quanzhou E-Commerce Association, will be grandly held on April 17 at Quanzhou Hotel in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province.

Having been successfully held for three consecutive sessions, the summit—renowned for its high caliber and wide influence—has received strong support from relevant government departments and leaders at all levels. For this edition, Zhang Zhinan, Executive Vice Governor of Fujian Province, and Huang Shaoping, Secretary of the Quanzhou Municipal Party Committee, have basically confirmed their attendance, highlighting the high level of attention placed by provincial and municipal governments on the development of e-commerce in Fujian. After several years of explosive growth, Fujian’s e-commerce industry is maintaining steady expansion and increasing its influence year by year. The e-commerce sector has not only become a new economic growth driver but also a powerful impetus for the transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing. Statistics show that there are currently over 70,000 online merchants in Quanzhou, with nearly 70% of footwear and apparel enterprises engaging in e-commerce, accounting for almost 60% of online transaction volume.

In addition to the keen interest shown by key provincial and municipal leaders, many industry heavyweights are also highly enthusiastic about the summit. Following the intense “price wars” of 2012 and the miracle of Singles’ Day, questions such as how open platforms will evolve in the future and how the e-commerce ecosystem should be built have sparked deeper reflection. Centered around numerous hot topics, industry leaders including Yanxuanzi, President of Tmall; Li Guoqing, President of Dangdang; Cheng Junyi, Senior Vice President of JD.com; and Ren Zhaoxin, Vice President of Amazon China, will gather at the main forum to discuss e-commerce from various perspectives such as big data, brand-platform synergy, and the future trends of open platforms. In addition, Yang Weiqing, President of iResearch Consulting Group, will release China’s first industry research report on online footwear shopping at the main forum, interpreting future trends in the sector.

The main forum will debut a roundtable interactive session—“Bull’s-Eye Views on E-Commerce”—the highest-level gathering of thought leaders in the industry. This session has sparked widespread discussion and received positive feedback in the past two summits, serving as a major draw for attendees. At this year’s summit, Zhou Shaohong, Chairman of Septwolves; Ding Shuibei, President of Xtep; Ding Shizhong, Chairman of Anta; and Wang Dongzhu, Chairman of Taoxie.com, will share insightful and practical viewpoints on how footwear and apparel brands can leverage e-commerce for brand reinvention and achieve industrial transformation and upgrading, guiding the path of traditional brands in the e-commerce era.

The China Footwear and Apparel Industry E-Commerce Summit, leveraging the advantages of the local industrial cluster, actively strives to build a platform for exchange between e-commerce players and brands, playing a positive role in promoting the application of e-commerce among Fujian’s footwear and apparel brands. The high level of attention and strong support from provincial and municipal government leaders as well as industry leaders provides the organizing committee with motivation and confidence to create an annual, top-tier e-commerce event in the footwear and apparel industry, contributing to the development of e-commerce in Fujian.
