The Ancient Ginkgo Scenic Area in Panxian is located 20 kilometers from the Panxian Special District and includes attractions in Shiqiao, Lemin Town, Chengguan Town, Shuitang Town, and Huopu Town. It boasts thousands of ancient ginkgo trees, Biyun Cave, Danxia Mountain, Huopu Azalea Forest, the ancient Yunnan-Guizhou post road, and dozens of other famous sites. If you visit in October, you can see vast expanses of golden ginkgo leaves—it’s truly stunning.

Highlights Danxia Mountain is located within Shuitang Town, standing at an elevation of 1,888 meters with a solitary peak that rises majestically and offers spectacular views. At the summit stands the “Huguo Temple,” which is highly popular among worshippers and remains an important center for Buddhist activities to this day.

Biyun Cave

In the Ming Dynasty’s Bian Yi Zhi, it was referred to as the “Number One Spectacular Cave in Puan.” What makes this cave particularly unique is its three interconnected passages: one accessible via an underground entrance, another letting in sunlight from a skylight opening, and a third through which water flows out from a wind vent. Located near the border between Yunnan and Guizhou provinces at Shengjing Pass. It consists of both pristine azalea forests and planted pine and fir trees. The area not only hosts large tracts of original azalea groves but also numerous rare plants and animals. In spring, various species of azaleas bloom in vibrant competition.
