Foot-Stepping Cave

Foot-Stepping Cave, shaped like a human footprint, is also called a chong-, sinkhole, or sky window. It is the only open skylight between a sinkhole and an outflow cave. The upper opening has a diameter of about 100 meters, the lower opening around 20 meters, and the depth exceeds 200 meters. Surrounded by steep cliffs, it is a thrilling and unique sight. The sinkhole is covered with various tropical plants, and you can hear the thunderous roar of an underground river. Exploration has revealed that the underground river within the sinkhole contains two natural chambers, adorned with a variety of spectacular and lifelike stalactites hanging in diverse shapes. Even more remarkably, these chambers connect to two vertical shafts on the side of the sky window. Inside the caves live the nationally protected giant salamander and other transparent fish species—sights rarely seen in China.
