The Former Site of the Guizhou Fighter Jet Assembly Plant in the Third-Front Region is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The "Jian-6 Type III" aircraft was the first fighter jet produced on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, ending the history of aircraft production being impossible in high-altitude climates and shattering the claim that "China's low-level industrial capabilities could never produce fighter jets." As a typical representative product of the Third-Front aviation industry, it embodies the collective wisdom of Third-Front units such as the Guizhou Aviation Industry Group’s Yunma Plant and the Aero Engine Corporation’s Liyang Plant. Located in Yaopu Town, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, the former site of the Third-Front Guizhou Fighter Jet Assembly Plant (Guizhou Aviation Industry Group’s Yunma Plant) served as an aircraft assembly plant during the Third-Front construction period, dedicated to developing modern fighter jets and mass-producing them. It witnessed the integrated development of defense and civil aviation industries during the Third-Front era, as well as the historical journey of AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation of China) striding toward the international aviation community over the past 40 years of reform and opening up. In 2003, the "Mountain Eagle" trainer jet, which undertook the manufacturing of complete aircraft components and some design test tasks, created a miracle in the history of new aircraft development.

On October 7, 2019, the Former Site of the Guizhou Fighter Jet Assembly Plant in the Third-Front Region was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
