Xingyi Liu Family Manor
The Xingyi Liu Family Manor is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
The Liu Family Manor is located in Xiawutun, about 4 li south of Xingyi City. It was the hometown of Liu Xianshi, former governor of Guizhou Province, and Liu Xianqian, former supervisor of border affairs in Yunnan and Guizhou. The manor consists of 13 courtyards of varying sizes that blend Chinese and Western architectural styles, including one Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness, one floral hall, one ancestral hall, and one study room, all of which are grand and magnificent. To this day, the main structures have largely retained their original appearance, and the former ancestral hall is now the Guizhou Minority Marriage Customs Museum.
The Liu Family Manor was first built during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty and began to take shape during the Xianfeng and Tongzhi periods. As the Liu family grew and prospered, the buildings were continuously expanded. By the Republican era, large-scale construction further enlarged the estate, making it the largest private manor in the province. The surviving structures include the Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness, the floral hall, the study room, the living quarters of Liu Xianqian, the family temple, the drill ground, one section of the city wall, one watchtower, and one French-style building.
The Liu Family Manor is grand and magnificent, with the main structures having largely retained their original appearance.
In June 1983, the Xingyi County People's Government designated the Liu Family Manor as a county-level cultural relics protection unit.

In November 1985, the People's Government of Guizhou Province designated it as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit.
In 1988, the state allocated 350,000 yuan to renovate the Liu Ancestral Hall. In October 1989, the "Guizhou Minority Marriage Customs Museum" was established within the manor, becoming the only museum of its kind in China dedicated to minority marriage customs.
In March 1990, leaders and experts from the National Cultural Relics Bureau visited Xingyi specifically to inspect the Liu Family Manor. They recognized it as a modern-era structure of significant historical, scientific, and artistic value, noting that such a well-preserved manor is rare in Guizhou and even across China.
In May 2013, the Xingyi Liu Family Manor was announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
