Pogang Natural Ecological Reserve

Pogang Natural Ecological Reserve is situated within the Eastern Peak Forest Scenic Area of the Maling River Gorge, a national-level scenic spot, and is designated as a provincial-level natural ecological reserve. The area is rich in biodiversity and characterized by distinctive landforms, representing a typical karst region. It is also one of the areas at the same latitude in China where the landforms and both plant and animal species are most completely preserved. The entire reserve encompasses nine villages including Minzu Village, Rongni Village, Daqing Village, Yanfeng Village, and Pogang Village in Zhengtun Town, covering 73 villager groups, 2,103 households, and 9,032 residents. The total area spans 108 square kilometers (16,200 mu), with cultivated land covering 7,232 mu.

The entire Pogang Natural Ecological Reserve consists of Mesozoic Triassic strata, primarily composed of limestone and dolomitic limestone. The elevation within the reserve ranges from 759 to 1,588.1 meters, and the landforms include karst peak forests, basins, and depressions.
