In Ludun, there are seven ponds scattered like the Big Dipper and shaped like caves. They are named “Pepper Pond,” “Roadside Pond,” “Laundry Pond,” “Namo Pond,” “Pot-Bottom Pond,” “Manger Pond,” and “Eye Pond.” The locals regard them as seven shining pearls. Among them, the most mystical is “Namo Pond.” Legend has it that in the past, colorful clothes and embroidered slings often floated out from the pond, and several greedy young brides and girls drowned as a result. Later on, whenever someone wearing floral clothing or carrying a flowered sling walked by the pond, the water level would rise and harm people. Eventually, the villagers invited Master Huiming, a highly respected monk from Baima Mountain, to perform an exorcism. They also erected a demon-repelling stone pillar by the pond, engraved with the Buddhist mantra “Namo Amitabha,” to suppress evil and protect the area. This stone pillar remains intact to this day. Even more astonishingly, although the seven ponds appear unconnected on the surface and have varying water levels, when the water in one pond drops, the others do too; if the water in one becomes murky, so does the rest — truly a case of “prosperity or loss shared alike.”

Ludun Town: Located in the northeastern part of Xingyi City, it is 34 kilometers from the city center. Covering an area of 64.45 square kilometers, the town governs nine villages and has a population of 19,600.
