Introduction

Located about 3 kilometers south of Xinjin County, Laojun Mountain, also known as Tianshe Mountain or Choujing Mountain, is a Taoist sacred site in Western Sichuan. It was the fourth of the "Twenty-Four Administrations" ("Choujing Administration") of the "Five Pecks of Rice Taoism" founded by Zhang Daoling of the Han Dynasty. Legend has it that this was also the retreat place of Laozi. The mountain is famous for its Taoist architecture and the grand Laojun Temple Fair.

Most of the buildings visitors see today were rebuilt later. Key structures include Tianci Palace, Lingzu Tower, Hunyuan Hall, Bagua Pavilion, Sanqing Hall, and Qizhen Hall. These halls and towers are built against the mountain, surrounded by lush greenery, giving off a serene atmosphere.

The 15th day of the second lunar month is the birthday of Laozi (also known as Tai Shang Laojun), the patriarch of Taoism, and a major festival in Taoism. The "Laojun Temple Fair" held at Xinjin Laojun Mountain Taoist Temple is the most grand and magnificent in Sichuan. On this day, the entire mountain is filled with worshippers, bustling with activity.
