Originally an agricultural expo park, Pubaoyuan covers an area of over 650 acres and is the only municipal-level forest park in the heart of the Western Sichuan Plain. It is located 25 kilometers from downtown Chengdu, 9 kilometers from the county seat, and 0.5 kilometers from the town government office. Adjacent to the Yangma River, with one of its tributaries flowing through the park and forming two lakes, the area boasts small bridges over flowing streams and winding paths through serene scenery. Within the park lies a more than 160-year-old moso bamboo forest; it also has hundreds of protected Phoebe zhennan trees—classified as a second-class key protected species in the province—covering an area of over 100 acres, originally planted in the late Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1760 AD).

The dense, lush forest of Phoebe zhennan trees creates a vast, flat woodland within an easily accessible living environment, providing ideal nesting and breeding conditions for numerous bird species such as egrets, yellow cranes, white cranes, doves, and wild geese. Preliminary surveys by bird experts have recorded over 53 species. Every summer evening, hundreds or even thousands of migratory birds perch on the treetops, chirping melodiously with graceful postures—an especially spectacular sight.

With its unique waterfront natural scenery and well-equipped dining and leisure facilities, Pubaoyuan offers an excellent destination for weekend getaways and family gatherings. The Taiwanese-style pedestrian street and the Fan Shu Teng dishes that blend Taiwanese and local flavors provide an unforgettable exotic experience. The Mongolian barbecue at the Rustic Canteen, first introduced to Sichuan from the capital, further showcases the exquisite culinary culture of Taiwan. Additionally, all food ingredients across the site come from the nearby Xiangsheng Eco-Organic Farm, freshly harvested on the same day—eating local, seasonal, and healthy is a highlight of traveling to Pubaoyuan.

Transportation

1. By car: Route 1: From the Qingshuihe intersection of the Second Ring Road, take the Chengxinpu Expressway 25 kilometers out of the city. After crossing the Jinma River Bridge, turn right 200 meters ahead to reach the farm directly, or turn left to go straight to Pubaoyuan. Route 2: Travel from Chengdu via Dajian Road to Xinjin, then to Xingyi Town.

2. By bus: Take bus 908 from Wanjiawan Bus Station in Chengdu; or take bus 523 from the Xincheng County bus station.

It can be reached by taking Bus 523 from the station.
