Anxi Town is situated in the western part of Xinchang County, Sichuan Province. To the west, it borders Yang’an Town of Qionglai City and Han Chang Town of Dayi County; to the south, it faces Yongshang Town across the river; to the east, it neighbors Xinping Town; and to the north, it adjoins Longma Township. National Highway 108 runs through the entire town. The town spans an area of 34.91 square kilometers, with 32,755 mu of cultivated land, and governs 20 administrative villages and 157 villager groups. By the end of 1998, the total population of the town was 29,135, including 28,536 agricultural residents and 599 non-agricultural residents. As of May 1998, telephone access had been achieved in every village. The town has 63.5 kilometers of roads, including 4.5 kilometers of the original National Highway 108, 3 kilometers of the Xinjin–Qionglai Road, 2 kilometers of county roads, 7 kilometers of town roads, and 47 kilometers of village roads. The town government is located in Anxichang. Anxi Town is part of the flatland region, featuring level terrain and fertile soil. The soil types mainly consist of old alluvial reclaimed terrace yellow clay and flatland alluvial semi-clay. Major irrigation channels include the Sijiang Weir, branch canals of the Yangtou Weir, Badou Canal, Jiudou Canal, and Shidou Canal, irrigating over 27,000 mu of land. It is one of the main grain production bases in Xinchang County. In 1998, five specialized associations were established successively, focusing on hybrid rice seed production, aquatic products, animal husbandry, edible fungi, and vegetables. The town became the largest hybrid rice seed production base in the county, accounting for 60% of the county’s total seed production area. The main crops grown are rice, wheat, and rapeseed.

Livestock farming in the town is primarily focused on pig breeding. Service system: The town is equipped with an Agricultural Technology Extension Station, as well as stations for agricultural economics, agricultural machinery, animal husbandry and veterinary services, and water conservancy. The Agricultural Technology Extension Station covers an area of 60 square meters and employs 5 staff members. Services provided include agricultural technology promotion, vegetable seeds, pesticides, small agricultural machinery, fertilizer supply, and pest and disease control. There are two agricultural machinery stations offering services such as fuel supply, agricultural machinery repair, and manufacturing. Two animal husbandry and veterinary stations provide services including livestock disease prevention, treatment, breeding, and feed supply. One water conservancy station offers services for farmland irrigation, water conservancy project maintenance, development, utilization, and management.
