The Yuandao Cultural Museum was prepared in 2004 and officially established in 2006 with approval from the national cultural relics authorities. It has been open to the public free of charge since then. Since its establishment, the museum has attracted many visitors from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, mainland China, as well as foreign scholars and experts due to its distinctive Taoist cultural features. It has especially received high praise from renowned Japanese Taoism researchers such as Professor Hachiya Kunio and Professor Monika, American Taoism scholar Professor Stephen Bokenkamp, Dr. Wei Mingde, editor-in-chief of the magazine Renlai founded by the French Éditions Ricci in Taiwan, as well as Taoism experts from Germany, Canada, and other countries. It holds a certain level of influence within China’s cultural and museum circles.
