Ming Prince Zhu Zhao’s Tomb

Ming Prince Zhu Zhao’s Tomb is located in Group 8, Daliang Village, Shiling Subdistrict, Longquanyi District. Constructed in the fourth year of the Zhengde era during the Ming Dynasty, it is the joint burial site of Ming Prince Zhu Zhao of Shu and his consort, Lady Liu. Facing south, the tomb covers an area of fifty mu and consists of a burial mound, underground chambers, and surface structures. The surface buildings have been completely destroyed. The burial mound currently stands at a residual height of 5 meters, with a base diameter of over 22 meters. The underground palace features brick-and-stone barrel-vaulted arches, with a width of nearly 13 meters and a total length (including the octagonal front wall and passage leading to the tomb) of 41 meters. The entrance sequence includes the front hall, front courtyard, middle courtyard gate hall, middle courtyard, parallel left and right corridor gate halls, and left and right coffin chambers. Each courtyard and corridor is flanked by side rooms, forming six sets of quadrangle courtyards. All halls, rooms, and side structures are built from stone in imitation of wooden architecture, featuring stone-carved tubular tiles with single-eave hip-and-gable and flush-gable roofs. There are also remnants of inscribed stone tablets for Prince Zhu Zhao and Consort Lady Liu.

The original site of Prince Zhu Zhao’s Tomb was in Group 9, Yushi Community, Dayan Subdistrict, Longquanyi District. In 1991, due to the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, the underground chambers were relocated in their entirety to the Ming Prince Xī’s Tomb complex for protection, while the burial mound remained in its original location. During this survey, a looting pit measuring 80 cm in diameter and 1.8 meters deep was still found. As an integral and non-relocatable part of Prince Zhu Zhao’s Tomb, this site remains worthy of protection and preservation.

The village consists of 26 villager groups and 1 residential group, with a total of 2,466 households and a population of 8,558, including 1,289 people who have transferred from agricultural to non-agricultural status.
