When I was a child, my parents worked in the Sichuan-Tibet region. Uncle Azha’s black clay butter tea pot and the clay liquor flask he always carried, scattered through my memories—pitch-black clay pots simmering soup, crisp pickles soaked in old jars, steamed pork over earth bowls, the big water vat in the kitchen, the salt jar... It wasn’t until today, when the Chengdu Biaobang Contemporary Clay Pottery Art Museum wove these memories together, that people suddenly realized this humble pottery is actually a hymn to the unending vitality of life. The Chengdu Biaobang Contemporary Clay Pottery Art Museum collects and organizes clay pottery pieces from all over Sichuan, bringing together the last surviving ancient pottery-making traditions from Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Muli Tibetan Autonomous County, Rongxian County, Pengzhou, Longchang, and Yingjing. These traditions come alive at our Chengdu Biaobang Contemporary Clay Pottery Art Museum.

Transportation: 1. By Metro and Bus Chengdu has built metro lines 1, 2, 3, and 4. Take Metro Line 2, exit at Exit C of Longpinglu Station, transfer to Bus 885 to Yangguangcheng Station, then switch to Bus L020B to reach the scenic area’s main gate. (Alternatively, you may take a ride-hailing service from the metro station to the scenic area, at a cost of about 11.0 RMB.)
