Zhuxi Lake Huashi Mountain

Huashi Mountain is situated within the Quxi Lake Tourist Scenic Area in Qionglai. Quxi Lake is an artificial reservoir constructed on the Zhuxi Gully, a first-level tributary of the Nanhe River in Qionglai City, and is approximately 8 kilometers from the city center. The lake looks like a dressing mirror, and the surrounding hills resemble gracefully drawn eyebrows. Nestled between the Buddhist temple cluster Helin Chan Yuan and the Esoteric Buddhism site Ponduo Temple, the area also hosts provincial-level protected cultural relics such as the Tang Dynasty Huazhi Temple and cliff carvings. During the Song Dynasty, famed poets Lu You and Wen Tong often visited this spot when in Qionglai. In 1985, General Zhang Aiping, former Minister of National Defense, paid a visit and inscribed the three characters “Zhuxi Lake” (竹溪湖), which were engraved on a stone stele on the left side of the reservoir dam. The scenic area mainly consists of three lakes and numerous small islands, where visitors can go boating or take a speedboat ride, admire the Tang Dynasty Thousand Buddha Rock Carvings, or simply sit by the lake to enjoy tea and play chess — truly a sublime experience. Notably, fishing enthusiasts can fish freely in the lake and take home their catch at no cost. Major attractions in the area include Turtle Island, Snake Island, Jade Rabbit Cave, Fairy Cave, Returning Steps Cliff, Yin-Yang Rock, Huashi Mountain, Elephant Trunk Hill, and Cold Valley Solitary Island.
