Lushan Qinglong Gorge

Qinglong Gorge is located in Qinglongchang Village, Longmen Township, Lushan County, and forms the entrance section of Jinqi Gorge, one of the four major gorges of Lushan. The newly compiled *Lushan County Annals* records: “Jinqi Gorge is situated 20 kilometers northeast of the county town, stretching approximately 5 kilometers in length, and was historically part of the ancient Lingqiong Road.” Legend has it that Sima Xiangru passed through this area during his mission to the southwest. Jiang Wei of the Shu Han dynasty once stationed troops on Zhenxi Mountain on the eastern bank of the gorge, which has long been a strategic military location. At the mouth of the gorge, on the mountainside, lies the important pass of the ancient Lingqiong Road — Qinglong Pass, which is also known as one of Lushan’s former Eight Scenic Spots: the “Eight-Step Suspended Sky Battle.” Inside the gorge, the scenery features lush mountains, clear waters, rugged rocks, and enchanting landscapes. Traveling upriver leads to Yuxi Village, home to the renowned Yuxi River Dam and the Maniu Mountain Tea Plantation Base.
