Diao Miao Township’s Jiguanzhai — the guerrilla warfare base of the Red Army’s Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Border Area Guerrilla Column — is located at the border between Diao Miao Township and Renhe Township in Jiang’an County, about 10 kilometers from Dipeng Town, Jiang’an County.

In the ninth lunar month of 1935, after the Red Army attacked Lantianba in Jiangyang District and Dazhouyi in Naxi District of Luzhou City, around four to five hundred Red Army soldiers fought their way to Jiguanzhai and Junba Rock, where they carried out guerrilla warfare. During this period, the Red Army distributed over 3,000 jin of grain from the homes of local landlords such as Xiao Wujī and Lao Fangzi to poor farmers. They also propagated the Communist Party’s principles and the Red Army’s discipline to the local populace, winning their support and welcome. Many local families even sent their sons to join the Red Army to fight.

The ruins of Jiguanzhai are both a historical site and a former battlefield of the Red Army.
