Luzhou Magnolia Mountain Scenic Area

The Magnolia Mountain Scenic Area is located on the southern edge of the Sichuan Basin, at the northern extension of the Dalou Mountain fold in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. It is 197 kilometers from Chongqing, 107 kilometers from Luzhou City, and 23 kilometers from Fubao Ancient Town. The scenic area boasts 45,000 mu of forest, including 10,000 mu of bamboo forests, making it a rare evergreen broad-leaved forest belt at low altitude and similar latitude on Earth where tree species are exceptionally well-preserved and biodiversity is extraordinarily rich—it's a precious natural gene bank for flora and fauna. The area features a protected mother-tree plantation of Torreya grandis designated by the Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department, as well as uniquely striking Danxia landforms. The landscape is dominated by forest scenery and encompasses numerous waterfalls and streams, bizarre tree roots and rocks, steep peaks and ridges, deep and serene valleys, and rare birds and animals. Among them, the especially majestic bamboo sea is astonishing—walls of bamboo, corridors of bamboo, lakes of bamboo, and seas of bamboo form a vast ocean of bamboo. Old bamboo, young bamboo, rhizomes, leaves, shoots, and even fine hairs all exude charm, sparking endless reverie.

The entire scenic area is a world of lakes, a stage of waterfalls, a paradise of flowers, a haven for birds, a kingdom of vines, an exhibition hall of roots, a homeland of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs, a dwelling place for wildlife, and a gene bank for natural species. The area offers four tourism routes and features over 50 exquisite attractions, including Lanzhu Pavilion, Immortal Waterfall, Piano Frog Lake, Flying Spring Valley, Emerald Bamboo Corridor, Pearl Cliff Hangings, Tree-Entwining Vine King, Misty Rain Rock, and Fairy Bathing Pool. The scenic area currently has basic reception capabilities. The summer resort within it—Magnolia Mountain Villa—is a comprehensive facility integrating dining, accommodation, and entertainment, capable of hosting around 200 visitors per day on average. With the summer resort and observation deck as a backdrop, the bamboo sea becomes even more distinctive. Natural landscapes such as South Heaven Gate, One-Line Sky, and Couple’s Spring, together with cultural elements, blend seamlessly to create an ideal destination for leisure, vacation, and sightseeing.
