Fubaio Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Fubaio Scenic Area is located on the southern edge of the Sichuan Basin, in the northern foothills of the Dalou Mountain Range. Covering an area of 432 square kilometers, it is a national AAA-level scenic spot, a national forest park, and a provincial-level scenic area. It is acclaimed as the best-preserved evergreen broad-leaved forest belt at this latitude and a natural gene bank for plants and animals. The area comprises Fubaio Ancient Town, Tiantangba, Yulan Mountain, and Zihuai Scenic Area, and is known for local specialties such as cliff honey, Yulan slices, and Dendrobium nobile.

Fubaio Ancient Town sits at an elevation of 255 meters and spans an area of 1.1 square kilometers (the Fubaio town area covers 3.83 square kilometers). It has been a key salt route from Sichuan into Guizhou since the Tang and Song dynasties and developed into a commercial hub during the late Yuan and early Ming periods, boasting over 600 years of history as a prosperous town. Most of the existing structures were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The ancient town is composed of residential buildings and the “Three Palaces and Eight Temples.” Tsinghua University architecture expert Zhou Weiquan described it as “the essence of China’s mountainous vernacular architecture” and “a symphony of space frozen in time.” It is a provincial cultural relics protection unit and a renowned historical and cultural town in China.

Tiantangba Scenic Area spans 116 square kilometers and includes attractions such as Dongping, Caiyuanzi, and Hunchuanzi. Its highest point, Jiaozi Mountain, rises to 1,751 meters. Major sights include Dongping Waterfall, Pingtan Moon Reflection, Stone Guardian at the Pass, Sanyuan Ancient Stockade, and Wuding Gate. Notable valleys include Tianzhu Valley and Azalea Valley.

Yulan Mountain Scenic Area covers 34.4 square kilometers, with its highest point at 1,070 meters. Among them, Qinwa Lake sits at 1,011 meters and can hold up to 600 acres of water at full capacity. The area features 45,000 mu (about 3,000 hectares) of forest, including 10,000 mu of bamboo forest.

Zihuai Scenic Area has its highest point at Xuejiashan Mountain, which reaches 1,389 meters, and spans 73.1 square kilometers. It includes attractions such as Shunyangxi Scenic Area and Taiziyan Scenic Area. Key sights include Chenglu Valley, Hongyan Valley, Dongkou Lake Waterfall, and Heiyansi Ancient Temple.
