Ancient Tea Horse Road - Fengming Post Road

Fengming Post Road is located in the Fengming Town community of Hejiang County, running in a northeast-southwest direction. It was first built during the Ming Dynasty and developed further during the Qing Dynasty and the Republican era. The currently visible section of the post road was constructed during the Qing period. The road is paved with bluestone slabs and flagstones, stretching a total length of 513 meters. The main road is up to 8 meters wide at its broadest point and as narrow as 2 meters at its narrowest, and is divided into six sections: the Square, Wanzitou, Main Street, Crossroads, Zhazi Gate, and Changkou Shang, while the branch roads consist of three sections: Old Oil Mill, Pig Market, and Old Rice Market. The buildings along both sides of the post road are mostly constructed with a traditional wooden mortise-and-tenon structure. Originally, there were six ancient temples built along the road, the two tallest being the Great Temple Shang (originally called Yuhuang Temple) and Guanyin Pavilion, as well as the Mountain God Temple. Other temples included Zhangye Temple, Yuwang Temple, and Niuwang Temple, making a total of six temples. Around the marketplace, there were also the Chicken Immortal Temple and Shigao Kan Temple. Today, only the Great Temple Shang (now restored as Phoenix Temple) and parts of the Mountain God Temple remain; the rest were destroyed after the Liberation. This post road has a long history and served as one of the key transportation routes to Guizhou, holding significant historical value.
