Beizhai Mountain Old Temple The old temple on Beizhai Mountain was first built in the late Han Dynasty. Over time, it expanded significantly, becoming a grand complex by the Tang Dynasty. Eventually, it covered an area of over 4,000 square meters and included four main halls — the Eastern Emperor Grand Buddha Hall, the Buddha Hall, the Dai Chao Hall, and the Xiaoyao Hall — along with auxiliary structures such as the Guanyin Hall, the Earth Store King Hall, and the Twelve Halls. As a temple integrating both Taoism and Buddhism, it has long been known for its thriving incense offerings and widespread fame. For over 1,000 years, the old temple endured natural disasters and various calamities, being destroyed by fire several times before being rebuilt again and again. During the Cultural Revolution, it was almost completely demolished and was used as a village primary school for many years. The currently impressive temple complex was rebuilt over the past year or two on the original site, following the original layout and scale. Only a few remaining broken pillar bases and stone tablets bear witness to the passage of time, preserving genuine relics of ancient history.
