Neijiang Xilin Temple

Neijiang Xilin Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

Xilin Temple is located on Xilin Mountain by the Tuojiang River in Dongxing District, Neijiang City. It was first built in the fifth year of the Xianchun era during the Southern Song Dynasty (1269), was destroyed by fire in the late Ming Dynasty, and was rebuilt in the third year of the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1798). In the 27th year of the Republic of China (1938), it became a nunnery housing over 30 Buddhist nuns. The main structures of the temple consist of three halls: the Guanyin Hall, the Wenchang Hall, and the Mahavira Hall—all with flying-eave roofs. The ridges are adorned with colorful carvings of figures, beasts, and dragons. Supporting structures include a meditation room, ancestral hall, dining hall, and meditation lodge. There is also a Ming Dynasty stone memorial archway in the temple, featuring a single gate with two posts and an ancient design.
