The Xinxikou Suspension Bridge to be Completed by Year-End, Vying for the Title of Longest Sky Bridge

The Xikou Suspension Bridge in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, has become outdated and is no longer fit for use. The Fuxing Township Office plans to rebuild it on the original site. Once completed, the new bridge will span 303 meters, allowing visitors to enjoy the mountainous landscapes of northern Taiwan and the views of the Shimen Reservoir, and is expected to open by the end of 2016 at the earliest.

The old Xikou Suspension Bridge was originally used as a means of transport for local residents. It gradually took on a tourism function after improvements were made to access roads around Xikou. Once the new bridge is operational, it will become a new tourist landmark for Fuxing District and is expected to boost local tourism. It is estimated that the bridge will attract about 100,000 visitors per month in the first six months after opening. Details such as the ticketing system for the new bridge are still under planning.
