Luban Lake is designated as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area.

As a national-level water park, Luban Lake is one of the largest reservoirs in Sichuan Province. Built in the 1970s through the ingenuity, labor, and wisdom of the people of Santai, this mysterious artificial lake is a marvel of human achievement.

Luban Lake is rich in cultural meaning. The submerged Luoban Township, Luoban Temple, Luoban Bridge, and other ruins of Luoban have given rise to many fascinating legends. During the construction of the reservoir, tens of thousands of workers embodied the spirit of Lu Ban (the legendary master craftsman), creating countless moving and heroic stories. After the reservoir was completed, the resulting natural landscape is colorful and diverse, sparking dreamlike imagination and offering a refreshing, uplifting experience.

Luban Lake is a valuable social asset. With a water surface area of 13 square kilometers and a water storage capacity of 278 million cubic meters, the lake covers six gullies and twelve bends, while its 89 hilltops form peninsulas or isolated islands—like gems inlaid on a jade plate. These landforms feature unique shapes, layered forests, lush greenery, and stunning scenery shrouded in mystery. Whether in the vibrant spring and summer or the golden autumn and chilly winter, the entire lake area is filled with lush woods, golden fruits, exotic flowers, rare animals, and famous local aquatic delicacies—each offering its own distinctive charm and making it an idyllic, picturesque destination for water-themed cultural tourism.

Luban Reservoir is a large artificial lake with a designed storage capacity of 278 million cubic meters and a water area of 13 square kilometers. The lake is dotted with islands, teeming with waterfowl, and abundant in fish and shrimp. Its spectacular peaks and scenic beauty are truly breathtaking. The area is fully equipped with essential infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, and communication facilities, and its tourism amenities are well-developed. It has been submitted for recognition as a National Water Conservancy Tourism Area. The lake’s 80 peninsulas and 15 islands offer a variety of activities including vacationing, leisure, recuperation, entertainment, shopping, water sports, adventure, exploration, and sightseeing—creating a uniquely distinctive water-themed tourism destination.
