Emerald Lake

Located 30 kilometers northwest of the county town and 3 kilometers from Jinshi Town, Emerald Lake is known as the “Little West Lake” of Bashu for its picturesque scenery and beautiful landscape. It is a large storage reservoir at the end of the terminal main canal of the People’s Canal project, with a water storage capacity of 22.1 million cubic meters and a surface area of 105 hectares. In addition to water storage and agricultural services, it also engages in activities such as fruit and forestry cultivation, aquaculture, hydroelectric power generation, and tourism.

If we liken the Luban Reservoir in the southern part of our county to a rugged and heroic man, then the Tuanjie Reservoir is like a graceful and elegant beauty. The pavilions on the dam are rustic yet refined—like the eyes of the reservoir—that lovingly gaze and warmly welcome visitors from all directions. The lake brims with crystal-clear green waves, reflecting the blue skies and white clouds. The sun seems to have melted into this scene, while the gentle wind, as soft as fingers dipped in golden light, paints across the blue surface; even the sky seems enchanted. Looking out toward the small islands in the lake, they appear stacked with overlapping emerald hues, as if the lake had suddenly surged upward only to be frozen in place by magic. The pavilions on the islands, partially hidden among bamboo groves, seem half-visible—as if shyly holding back. Mountains, forests, pavilions, and the lake evoke a sense of calmness, serenity, and visual delight. Lost in thought, you may find yourself instinctively opening your arms to embrace this pristine and tranquil beauty...　

When you come to the reservoir, you must take a tour of the lake. As the motorboats glide through the water, the bow cuts through the waves, sending up surging green swells like the sounds of a grand symphony playing; the stern leaves behind a trail of frothy white foam. Splashing sounds echo...

It feels like a stirring march reverberating through the air. The wind is green and translucent, gently caressing your heart like soothing light music. If you hop into a small boat with a couple of friends and drift leisurely across the lake, that’s a whole other experience. Surrounded by this unspoiled clarity, all the dust of the outside world is washed away; worries vanish, and you’re overcome with a feeling of indescribable comfort. In the distance, waterfowl take flight, their soft wings tracing elegant arcs across the green waves and blue sky. Amazed, you glance further and spot little ducks here and there, bobbing on the water. Raising your gaze higher, you see the lush mountains encircling the lake, their green hues dotted with patches of red among the leaves—an enchanting sight. In this kingdom of green, such vivid splashes of red are nothing short of magical. Whose clever touch is this? Face the breeze, take a deep breath, and you’ll catch the fragrance of citrus. The hillsides are ablaze with red.

Although the reservoir’s management has not intentionally promoted it, many visitors come here specifically to see it. Some provincial and municipal meetings are even held here. These days, visitor numbers continue to rise. Those who haven’t been want to go, and those who’ve been want to return. The fascinating scenery and the warm hospitality of the locals make it hard to resist. The guesthouse, located by the reservoir, blends harmoniously with the surrounding structures. Meeting rooms and lounges are tastefully arranged, and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Staying for a few days here, whether boating on the lake or strolling along its shores—where the morning mist over the countryside and the cool lake breezes at night can help you forget the stresses of work and the hassles of interpersonal relationships.
