Xiangru Lake National Wetland Park in Peng’an, Sichuan is a national-level wetland park.

Xiangru Lake National Wetland Park in Peng’an, Sichuan is located in Peng’an County, Sichuan Province, covering a total area of 2,052.73 hectares.

The Xiangru Lake wetland park is situated along the lower-middle reaches of the Jialing River, next to Peng’an County town, with a wetland area of 2,052.73 hectares. Approved by the State Forestry Administration, Peng’an’s Xiangru Lake has officially been designated as a national wetland park (pilot) due to its irreplaceable reservoir–sandbar composite wetland ecosystem. Northern pintail ducks and mallards, which are listed as nationally protected wild animals, can be seen flying over the Xiangru Lake National Wetland Park.

Peng’an County, located along the middle reaches of the Jialing River, features an 89-kilometer stretch of river that resembles a jade ribbon winding gracefully through the landscape, forming unique meandering patterns – hence earning the reputation of having “the most beautiful and open section of the Jialing River.”

Earlier this year, with approval from the State Forestry Administration, Peng’an’s Xiangru Lake, situated in this river section, gained national recognition for its one-of-a-kind reservoir–sandbar composite wetland ecosystem and was officially established as a national wetland park (pilot). Over the next five years, Peng’an will carry out systematic development of the wetland park in accordance with the overall Xiangru Lake Wetland Park plan, striving to build it into a national-level wetland park that integrates wetland ecosystem conservation, rational utilization of wetland resources, and protection of water environment quality and safety. It will serve as a model site for the preservation and restoration of reservoir wetland ecosystems in the hilly region of northeastern Sichuan, an excellent venue for wetland education and public outreach, and a benchmark for the ecological protection and management of wetlands along the upper reaches of the Jialing River and Yangtze River.

The Xiangru Lake Wetland Park is developed with an investment of over 3.6 billion RMB by Sichuan Zhongda Group, and is positioned to be a key domestic tourism destination.

✓ Area: The park has a planned total area of 2,052.73 hectares, including 1,726.83 hectares of wetland.

✓ Location: Situated in the central-western part of Peng’an County, adjacent to the county town, it lies at a key node within the Jialing River Basin Wetland Protection Network.
