Main Hall of Tufosi Temple

The Main Hall of Tufosi Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

Tufosi Temple, located in Tufosi Village, Gaomiao Township, eastern Peng’an County. Originally built during the Song Dynasty and initially named “Puen Temple,” it was later destroyed. It was rebuilt in the first year of the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty and renamed Tufosi Temple. During the late Ming period’s upheavals, the temple's front hall and side rooms were completely ruined, leaving only the main hall intact. During the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, immigrants who came to Sichuan raised funds to rebuild the front hall and side rooms, and also renovated the main hall. Starting from the tenth year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty, successive generations carried out maintenance and renovations on the temple. Today, only the main hall built during the Ming Dynasty and the front hall rebuilt in the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty remain well-preserved. The left and right side rooms were demolished after the liberation. The main hall has five bays, a width of 22 meters, a depth of 9.7 meters, and a building area of 213 square meters. It is constructed on a single-layer straight step foundation, featuring a post-and-lintel roof framework and a hip-and-gable roof.

Protected area: 50 meters beyond the occupied boundary.

Construction control zone: To the east extends to the village road, to the south to the river, to the west to Wazi Field, and to the north to the ancient burial ground.
