Peng'an Red Army Tree

The Peng'an Red Army Tree is a cultural relic protection unit of Peng'an County and a classic red tourism attraction.

In the autumn of 1933, troops under the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army entered Peng'an to mobilize the masses for revolution and established district, township, and village Soviet governments. Legend has it that one day, after returning from buying rice in the town, Red Army soldiers stuck a branch of a yellow catalpa tree they had used to carry the rice beside the temple. It later grew into a large tree. People, in remembrance of the Red Army, called it the "Red Army Tree."
