Yinshan Temple

Yinshan Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Nanchong City.

Yinshan Temple is located 300 meters south of Yinhhan Town, Peng’an County, and is locally known as “Old Nunnery.” According to inscriptions in the main hall, it was first built in the 36th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1697), and later underwent several renovations in the 8th year of the Daoguang reign (1828), the 7th year of the Xianfeng reign (1857), and the 20th year of the Guangxu reign (1894). The main hall of the temple is majestic in appearance, featuring a square layout, with large-diameter pillars, four central pillars over ten meters tall that extend all the way to the roof ridge. It has a double-eave hipped-gable roof, and the entire main hall utilizes 28 pillars arranged in a “回” (square) pattern. To increase usable space within the main hall, a combination of raised-beam and post-and-lintel construction methods were used. The temple covers a construction area of 1,700 square meters.

Yinhhan Town: Located at the southernmost tip of Peng’an County, Yinhhan Town borders Zhengshan Town of Guang’an City and Tianping Town of Yuechi County, and is 40 kilometers from the county seat. The town covers a total area of 35 square kilometers. It is a hilly region, governing 12 villages, 139 production teams, 4,037 households, with a total population of 14,049 and a total cultivated land area of 11,611 mu.

Situated at the junction of three counties, Yinhhan Town has long been a hub for commerce, with a large number of merchants coming in and out, greatly boosting the prosperity of the town and surrounding areas.
