Zhenlongshan National Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Zhenlongshan National Forest Park is located within Pingchang County, Sichuan Province, covering the towns of Zhenlong (northeastern part of the county), Jiangkou (central part of the county), and Baiyi (southern part of the county). It has a total area of 25.6 square kilometers (including Zhenlong Town 14.2 square kilometers, Fotou Mountain 3 square kilometers, and Baiyi Town 8.4 square kilometers), with forestry land covering 31,995 mu and a forest coverage rate reaching 83.5%.

The park was approved as a provincial-level forest park by the Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department in 1995. In June 2003, the Pingchang County Forestry Bureau commissioned the Sichuan Zhonglin Environmental Art Design Research Institute to conduct a feasibility study for the Zhenlongshan Forest Park. In August 2003, the National Committee for the Evaluation of Forest Park Scenic Resources, the National Forest Park Administration, and the Provincial Forest Park Administration conducted on-site inspections of the scenic resources. In December 2003, the State Forestry Administration officially approved the establishment of Zhenlongshan National Forest Park.

The park adheres to the principle of “priority on protection, rational development, and sustainable utilization,” focusing on preserving the existing landscape, local characteristics, biodiversity, and a healthy ecosystem. It highlights the integration of forest landscapes, Buddhist culture, and historical heritage, expressing the ideals of “beauty in nature, value in harmony, and excellence in uniqueness.” It is a scenic area dominated by natural landscapes and supplemented by cultural attractions. Zhenlongshan National Forest Park boasts elegant mountain ridges, winding streams, vast woodlands, distinct seasonal changes, and spectacular celestial phenomena. The park is not only blessed with beautiful landscapes but is also rich in cultural history. The ancient Sichuan-Shaanxi courier route that runs across the park, the historic towns built during the Qin-Han period and flourished during the Ming-Qing dynasties, and the exquisitely carved ancient tombs and residences are just a few examples of the cultural treasures here.

Within Zhenlong Town, the Wufeng Forest Farm is covered with dense plantation forests and beautiful natural woodlands. The mountains are lush with greenery and the valleys and streams are teeming with vibrant vegetation. The mountain forms are majestic, with twisting folds. When you overlook from a high vantage point, you'll be struck by the feeling of “mountain dragons dancing and peaks like pellets.” There are 54 peaks with altitudes above 1,200 meters, among which five peaks are arranged in a pentagonal formation, creating the spectacle of “Five Dragons Worshipping the Holy One.”

The park features many unique landscapes. On the open hillside of the Wufeng Forest Farm’s branch, about 300 meters away, there’s a 40-meter-long path where footsteps produce echoing sounds—soft steps create soft sounds, heavy steps louder ones, producing a harmonious melody resembling heavenly music. At Wulong Lake in the northeast corner of the farm, the winding lake surface resembles a sleeping dragon, with vast waters and fascinating reflections. On clear mornings at Jiakeshan, you can see the dramatic sunrise; at night, the varied beauty of the moon; and on cloudy days, the thick sea of clouds.

The park also offers other remarkable sights. In the quiet valleys, you can hear the rare and unique song of the “piano frog” — a rare amphibian whose chirping sounds like musical notes, hence its name “piano frog.”

Huashiping is covered with peculiar rocks, including Chinese stones, incense burner stones, knife coin stones, and nipple stones, among others, scattered everywhere. Hidden within the dense woods are two connected pools called Mandarin Duck Pools, with clear water, drifting forest mist, and surrounding green trees, giving them a quite mystical aura. The finely carved ancient tombs in the scenic area are another wonder, showcasing the wisdom and artistry of ancient craftsmen. Among them, the tomb of Wuqiwèi Deng Shaofang near Tuchuanzhai is the most spectacular. This tomb site spans over one acre and is divided into three courtyards. The front courtyard features flagpoles with stone lions, the middle houses an approximately 8-meter-tall memorial archway intricately carved and painted with lifelike figures and floral patterns. The poems and inscriptions on the walls are brilliantly illuminated. The roughly 30-square-meter worship hall in front of the tomb includes an inner courtyard of around 20 square meters, with a horizontal relief above depicting family life scenes. The corridor is adorned with exquisitely preserved carvings. Seven individuals are buried here, within a tomb area of about 100 square meters.

Jiangkou Street: A town under the jurisdiction of Pingchang County, serving as the county seat. It was established as Jiangkou Township in 1913, changed to Jiangkou Township in 1939, became a town in 1946, renamed Chengguan Town in 1953, and reverted to Jiangkou Town in 1981. Located in the central part of the county at the confluence of the Ba River and Tongjiang River, the street is laid out in three terraces. It covers an area of 5.2 square kilometers with a population of 50,000. The Dazhou (Chuan) to Guangyuan provincial highway runs through the center of the town, and county roads connect to various towns. The Ba River and Tongjiang River are navigable. The town administers seven neighborhood committees: Xinping, Xinhua, Jianshe, Zhengfa, Renmin, Wenhua, and Xiaoqiao Street.
