Tomb of Tang Zhifu

The Tomb of Tang Zhifu is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Sichuan Province.

The Tomb of Tang Zhifu is located in Shuangshan Village, Yuanshi Township. This tomb is the burial site for Mr. and Mrs. Tang Zhifu, oriented southwest to northeast. It is situated on a slope measuring 10.9 meters in width, 22.7 meters in depth, and covering an area of 247.43 square meters. The site consists of an earthen mound, tombstone, ceremonial walls, memorial archway, ceremonial hall, gateway, and surrounding wall. The earthen mound is oval-shaped, measuring 6.8 meters in length, 3.9 meters in width, and 4.4 meters in height. The five-story, memorial archway-style tombstone stands 5.4 meters tall and 4.5 meters wide, with four columns and three bays, divided into upper and lower sections. The lower section has four columns with drum bases and bears the epitaph on its central bay, while the upper part is adorned with a hanging plaque inscribed with text. The side bays feature lattice-patterned, carved stone doors. The upper section houses a memorial chamber displaying scenes from the lives of the tomb owners. The tombstone is decorated with 10 carvings depicting figures and floral patterns. On either side of the tombstone are eight-shaped ceremonial walls, 3.6 meters tall and 3.77 meters wide, featuring four columns and four bays, with imitation blue-tile rooftops, connecting at their ends to the surrounding wall. At a distance of 5.6 meters directly in front of the tombstone is a memorial archway, standing 4.3 meters tall and 3.8 meters wide, also with four columns and three bays, single-tiered and single-eaved. The archway's columns feature drum bases both in front and behind, while the side bays are adorned with carved stone slab doors. The lintels and columns are engraved with floral and figure motifs, and the plaque is inscribed with text. Flanking the archway are surrounding walls that connect to the outer perimeter walls. Seven and a half meters in front of the archway lies the gateway, 2.9 meters tall and 2.4 meters wide, with a rounded top, and also outfitted with drum bases at the front and back. Each of the two ceremonial halls measure 10.9 meters in width and range from 5.6 to 7.5 meters in depth. The second ceremonial hall is 10.9 meters wide and 5.6 meters deep. The surrounding walls on both sides are each 14.9 meters long and vary in height between 1.17 and 1.24 meters. This tomb complex holds certain value for cultural relics research.
