Tomb of Wang Enji

The Tomb of Wang Enji is a cultural relic protection unit of Bazhong City.

The Tomb of Wang Enji is located in Guanzhai Village, Bishan Town, facing south, and is the joint tomb of Wang Enji and his wife. Wang Enji served as a prefect during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. The tomb is situated on a platform that is 8 meters wide and 13.8 meters deep. The earthen mound is oval-shaped, measuring 5.1 meters in length, 2.92 meters in width, and 3.85 meters in height. In front of the mound stands a three-story, memorial archway-style tomb stele that is 5.35 meters high, 3.56 meters wide, and 1.2 meters thick. It has four pillars and three bays, with double doors in the central bay, a surrounding corridor, and two circular columns in the front. The main bay features a niche containing a statue of the tomb owner. On both sides of the stele are eight-character ceremonial walls, each 2.4 meters high and 1.63 meters wide. These ceremonial walls connect to the surrounding graveyard wall at the front. The graveyard wall is 2 meters long and 3.2 meters high. In front of the left and right graveyard walls stand two matching steles. Both steles share the same specifications: 3.2 meters high, 1.04 meters wide, and 0.7 meters thick. At the center, 3.2 meters directly in front of the steles, stands a five-story, memorial archway-style stele gateway. It has four pillars and three bays, is 4.8 meters high and 3.9 meters wide, and is preceded by a flight of seven steps. On both sides of the gateway, only the base of the left flagpole remains, consisting of three tiers: the first is a square base, the second a Sumeru pedestal, and the third a circular one. The flagpole itself is octagonal and features a single bracket with supporting braces underneath. The flagpole is 4.9 meters high and the base measures 1.1 meters per side. The tomb stele, ceremonial walls, graveyard wall, steles, and gateway are all carved with 28 designs featuring figures, animals, and floral patterns. This tomb is quite large in scale, with exquisite carvings, and holds significant cultural and artistic value.
