General Pu Dayi’s Tomb

General Pu Dayi’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Pingchang County.

General Pu Dayi’s Tomb is located in Dalong Village, Xishen Township, facing northwest from the southeast. It is the tomb of General Pu Dayi and his wife. Pu Dayi joined the Red Army in 1933 and served as commander of the 45th Brigade of the North China Military Region, deputy commander of the Artillery Corps of the Kunming Military Region, deputy chief of staff of the Kunming Military Region, and deputy commander of the Yunnan Production and Construction Corps. He was promoted to major general in 1961. The burial site is spread across a slope measuring 4.49 meters in width and 7.03 meters in depth. The earthen mound is oval-shaped, 3.8 meters long, 2.6 meters wide, and 2.4 meters high. The tombstone stands 3.26 meters tall and 2.8 meters wide. It features a round top and is adorned with carvings of figures, animals, and floral patterns. On either side, 0.9 meters in front of the tombstone, stand two four-cornered spire-roofed stele pavilions on Sumeru pedestals. The pavilions are 2.63 meters tall overall, with the steles themselves having sides 0.33 meters in length. The pedestals measure 1.03 meters in length, 0.73 meters in width, and 0.53 meters in height, and the four sides of the steles are inscribed with poetry. 1.9 meters directly in front of the center of the tombstone stands a round-topped memorial stele on a Sumeru pedestal. The memorial stele is 2.8 meters tall, with the stele body 0.88 meters wide and 0.23 meters thick. The pedestal is 0.65 meters high. The front of the memorial stele is inscribed with the eight characters “General Pu Dayi Memorial Stele.” On the left side is engraved: “Renowned for valor in Licheng, over forty merits shine upon descendants,” and on the right: “Virtue spread across the southern frontier, three thousand rubber trees mourn the fallen.” The inscription is signed by the Command of the Ming Military Region, 1973, with the national emblem motif at the top. The back of the memorial stele is inscribed with “The Life of General Pu Dayi,” signed by “The Military Museum of the People’s Republic of China, Qingming Festival, 1995,” also featuring the national emblem motif at the top. This burial site holds significant revolutionary commemorative value.
