The former sites of affiliated organs of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters include the former site of the Northern Bureau, as well as the former residences of Yang Shangkun, Liu Xiwu, Li Dazhang, and Yang Xianzhen. The headquarters of the Northern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was stationed in Wangjiayu Village, Wuxiang County from October 1939 to July 1940. It organized the Southeast Shanxi Anti-Wang and Pro-Chiang Conference, playing a significant role in upholding the resistance in North China, overcoming the dangers of surrender, reactionism, and retrogression, and purging capitulationist elements hidden within the anti-Japanese forces. Discussions were held regarding base area work, and a meeting attended by senior cadres of the party, government, and military from the Taihang, Taiyue, and Southern Hebei regions as well as the 129th Division was convened in Beishe Village, Licheng County. This meeting put forward three major construction guidelines: governance, army building, and party development.

This site served as the spiritual command center of the anti-Japanese salvation movement in North China. It directed guerrilla warfare and political, economic, and cultural struggles in various anti-Japanese bases behind enemy lines in the region, organized the renowned Hundred Regiments Offensive, and made outstanding contributions to the victory of China’s War of Resistance Against Japan and the global anti-fascist war. In recent years, it has been listed as one of China’s 12 national red tourism scenic areas and one of the 100 classic red tourism destinations, becoming a renowned patriotic education base in the country.

Shimen Village: Introduction to Shimen Village

Shimen Village is located in the eastern part of Panlong Town along the tourism route of Taihang Longdong. The village has 225 households and a population of 669, including 38 Party members. It covers an area of 22.8 square kilometers, with 1,858 mu of arable land, and is a typical purely agricultural village focused on crop farming.

In recent years, under the correct leadership of the higher-level Party committee and government, the village's Party branch and committee have adhered to the guidance of the Scientific Outlook on Development.
