Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Tea
Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Tea is made from high-quality fresh tea leaves sourced from the pristine, pollution-free, and selenium-zinc rich soil tea-growing regions of Danzhai County, known as the “Hometown of Selenium-Zinc Rich Tea in China.” The tea is processed using unique techniques, resulting in tightly rolled, slender, and even greenish-brown leaves with a lasting aroma, bright liquor, refreshing taste, and vibrant leaf bottoms.
Danzhai County has a long history of tea cultivation and unique processing techniques. Benefiting from its exceptional climate and soil conditions, the tea produced here is of high quality and naturally rich in selenium and zinc — essential minerals for human health. In 2010, among 21 tea-producing counties in Guizhou Province selected as central government-funded modern agricultural tea industry development project counties, Danzhai was one of them. It has also been recognized as a “National Key Tea-Producing County” by the China Tea Marketing Association for two consecutive years. With the advancement of standardized tea production demonstration zones, tea quality has improved year by year, and planting areas have steadily expanded. Danzhai County in Qiandongnan Prefecture is a major producer of selenium-zinc tea, with 81,000 mu of planted area, nearly 40,000 mu of harvestable area, and an annual output of 2,000 tons.
Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Tea is protected under the geographical indication product standards designated by the Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau of Guizhou Province. The protected production area includes seven towns and townships under the jurisdiction of Longquan Town, Xingren Town, Paidiao Town, Changqing Township, Yangwu Township, Nanga Township, and Yahui Township in Danzhai County, Guizhou Province. This designation is based on the “Request for Delimitation of the Geographical Indication Product Protection Area of Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Tea” (Dan Fu Cheng [2011] No. 145) submitted by the Danzhai County People’s Government, and follows the draft “Danzhai Selenium-Zinc Tea” local standard of Guizhou Province.
