Micang Mountain Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Micang Mountain National Forest Park is located in the northern part of Nanjiang County on the northern edge of the Sichuan Basin, at the southern foot of Micang Mountain in the Qinba Mountain area (Qinling–Daba Mountains). It borders Nan Zheng County of Shaanxi Province to the east and north, reaches Shaba Township, Guanba Township, Zhaipo Township, and Yangba Town of Nanjiang County to the south, adjoins Wangcang County of Guangyuan City to the west, and complements the Guangwu Mountain National Key Scenic Area. It lies approximately 70 kilometers north of Hanzhong City (via Tielu Dam Mountain Gate), about 136 kilometers south of Bazhong City (via Chenjiashan), and roughly 216 kilometers west of Guangyuan City (via Chenjiashan). Covering an area of 40,155 hectares with a forest coverage rate of 97.3%, it is known as a natural oxygen bar. The park was established in 1995 and approved as a national-level park in December 2002. Historically referred to as the “western gateway of Ba and the rocky frontier of Shu,” it is now celebrated as a new highlight of eco-tourism in western China and hailed as the “golden triangle” of forest tourism in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, and Chongqing.

The park features spectacular mountains, beautiful waters, and a pleasant environment, with enchanting scenery. It boasts ancient strata, unique landforms, vast territory, expansive forests, remarkably colorful autumn foliage, elegant mountain forms, diverse celestial phenomena, and abundant natural landscapes, along with profound cultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy mountain flowers in spring, landscape views in summer, red leaves in autumn, and rime frost in winter. The park consists of three scenic areas—Muyang City, Eighteen Moon Pools, and Wanzi Mountain—with 88 scenic spots in total, including 74 natural attractions and 14 cultural sites. In the Muyang City Scenic Area, you can admire vast expanses of red leaves and rare plants; experience the aerial walkway over Lianli Peak, go rafting on the Jiaoja River, and take in the grand views reminiscent of Mount Emei’s Xianglu Mountain in northern Sichuan; visit the former Red Army base, explore the Micang Ancient Road, and delve into the culture of the Three Kingdoms. The Eighteen Moon Pools Scenic Area is rich in water bodies, with cascading pools and emerald hues, and rainbows soaring above; Guangwu Mountain plays with ever-changing mists, while Jiujiao Mountain blends with the endless sky, making it a true “hundred-mile gallery.” The Wanzi Mountain Scenic Area is pristine and rustic, with countless gullies; explore the Stone Forest Gully, venture into the Snail Valley, shout for rain at the Rain-Calling Pavilion, and enjoy the panoramic views from the Wanjing Tower; reflect on the story of Han Xin by the Cold Stream River and listen to the waves at General Rock. The red leaves of Micang Mountain are unrivaled under heaven, and the waterfalls of the Eighteen Moon Pools rival those of Jiuzhaigou. The park encompasses the beauty of Huangshan, the strangeness of Wuling, the elegance of Mount Emei, the serenity of Qingcheng, and the grandeur of Jianmen, offering a delightful experience that leaves visitors lingering with joy.
