Zhengjiadong Cave Museum

Zhengjiadong Cave Museum. It was founded by rural teacher Chen Xichao. In February 1933, less than a month after the Red Army established a "Soviet regime" in Xinchang Township (now Shuangliu Town), they were besieged by troops of warlords from northern Sichuan and local bandits. For 15 months, they fought and evaded in the cliffside Zhengjiadong Cave. With their blood and sacrifice, 27 Red Army soldiers kept the revolutionary flame burning in the Daba Mountain region. To honor these martyrs, the Zhengjiadong Cave Museum was renovated. From 1989 to the present, over 200 relics left by the Red Army have been collected, including bullets, machetes, and spears. Thirty-five clay sculptures of Red Army soldiers and more than 300 replicated stone-carved slogans of the Red Army have been preserved for public viewing. In 1992, a reporter from Xinhua News Agency distributed a story nationwide, prompting dozens of media outlets to conduct interviews and reports. The museum has attracted more than 50,000 visitors from across the province and beyond. He Taiyang, former commander of the Hubei Provincial Military District and a native of Shuangliu who was also a veteran Red Army soldier, called it “a vivid textbook for traditional education in the Daba Mountains.”
