Shemen Scenic Area

Shemen Scenic Area: The Shemen Scenic Area is located in Shaba Township, Nanjiang County. The name "Shemen" (meaning "Divine Gate") comes from a massive natural rock cave resembling a giant gate atop a high mountain opposite the town of Shaba. The locals call this formation the "Divine Gate." The mountain features a majestic and picturesque landscape with diverse and unique formations, exhibiting characteristics of grandeur, ruggedness, and steepness. In October 2002, the Shamen Scenic Area in Shaba Township was approved by the People's Government of Sichuan Province as the "Shemen Scenic Spot"; on April 2, 2003, it was further designated as a national nature reserve. The Shamen Scenic Area of Nanjiang County is an important part of the Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area and is one of the eight scenic areas listed in the seventh batch of provincial-level scenic spots announced by the provincial government.
