Fuxing Bridge

Fuxing Bridge was first built in June of the eighth year of the Daoguang reign and is a scenic ancient stone arch bridge. The bridge spans 11 meters, is 6 meters high, and 4.8 meters wide; the bridge deck features a wooden structure bridge corridor, 35 meters long, 6 meters high, with seven rows of columns, a gable roof, and a covering of small blue tiles. Damage conditions: No abnormalities have been found in the stone arch. The left wall on the Xiaohexi Street side of the arched bridge and parts of the bridgehead steps have developed localized cracks. The bridge railing is a temporary wooden fence. Due to age, multiple sections of the bridge corridor’s wooden columns, beams, purlins, and rafters have rotted, and there are numerous holes in the bridge corridor roof, posing safety risks to pedestrians. The county transportation bureau has developed a renovation plan: cracks in the side walls and steps will be sealed with cement mortar, the bridge corridor railing will be replaced with a wooden bench-style design, all wooden columns, beams, purlins, and rafters in the bridge corridor will be completely replaced, the bridge roof will be remodeled according to the decor of an ancient bridge, and funding has been estimated. Due to lack of funding sources, the community, in order to ensure the personal safety of passersby, organized manpower to carry out demolition. Currently, the main body of the bridge and the stone stele are intact. Some of the inscriptions on the stele have weathered but remain legible.
