Shie Temple

Shie Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Shie Temple was first built during the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty. Xu Shijie, a local gentry who served as the magistrate of Lanzhou Prefecture, proposed raising funds for its construction. Over a hundred master craftsmen and more than a thousand laborers were summoned, and the temple was completed after three years. The temple is centered around the existing ancient structure, with auxiliary halls built to the east, west, south, and north, all connected by stone paths in the four directions, interspersed with pavilions and winding railings. Later, it suffered devastation during the Cultural Revolution, and the auxiliary halls in the east, west, south, and north have been completely destroyed, leaving only the main hall. After renovation, the temple now covers an area of nearly 200 square meters, with over 680 stone steps laid out in front. The main hall has three rooms, with one room on each side. The main hall houses statues of Confucius, Laozi, the Buddha, as well as Liu Bei and Guan Yu. The left side enshrines the Goddess of Mercy, seated high on a lotus platform, blessing all beings. The right side features several deities, attracting a steady flow of worshippers.
