Feiyun Hot Springs is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Feiyun Hot Springs, located on Feiyun Mountain near Kaijiang County in the agricultural area of Dazhou City at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains in northeastern Sichuan Province, is about 9 kilometers from the county town, with roads winding through the area. The hot spring was discovered in 1980 by a national petroleum drilling team as a naturally gushing hot water well, with a daily flow of 1,032 cubic meters and a temperature of 47°C, making it a unique geothermal resource of Kaijiang County. Known as the "Hottest Spring in Eastern Sichuan" and the "Second Best Spring Under Heaven."

　Feiyun Hot Springs, located on Feiyun Mountain near Kaijiang County in the agricultural area of Dazhou City at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains in northeastern Sichuan Province, is about 9 kilometers from the county town, with roads winding through the area. The hot spring was discovered in 1980 by a national petroleum drilling team as a naturally gushing hot water well, with a daily flow of 1,032 cubic meters and a temperature of 47°C, making it a unique geothermal resource of Kaijiang County. Scientific tests have shown that the spring water contains an appropriate amount of sulfur and other minerals, earning it the titles of the "Hottest Spring in Eastern Sichuan" and the "Second Best Spring Under Heaven." Bathing in it has certain therapeutic effects on skin diseases such as eczema, as well as hemiplegia. Relevant departments have built hot spring bath facilities here, offering showers, bathtubs, and bathing pools for visitors to choose from. Since its opening, it has attracted a continuous stream of visitors coming specifically for a soak.

The hot spring is surrounded by rolling hills, lush greenery, and beautiful scenery. It is close to the Bao Shi Lake, the largest artificial lake in eastern Sichuan, and the Dongshan Botanical and Cultural Garden, while also echoing nearby attractions such as the Buddhist holy site Jinshan Temple. The hot spring integrates medical treatment, winter tourism, conferences, and vacationing, featuring separate sections for dining, guestrooms, bathing, hairdressing and health care, entertainment, conferences, and a health therapy center. There is also a fish pond, parking lot, orchard, and complementary facilities including Mongolian yurts and whole lamb roasts.

Legend has it that long, long ago, in Baotaba, a place surrounded by green mountains and vast flatlands, there lived a family making a living through farming and weaving, enjoying a life of plenty. They had two lively and adorable daughters. The elder sister was called Feihe, and the younger sister was called Feiyun. From a young age, Feihe and Feiyun were intelligent, hardworking, gentle, able to speak at one year old, sing at three, and handle various chores by the age of seven, bringing great joy to their parents’ later years. Just as the two sisters were entering their youth, tragedy struck when their parents passed away one after the other, leaving the two sisters orphaned and alone. The sisters buried their parents in tears and, relying on their own hard work and resilience, managed to survive. They soon blossomed into two beautiful, blooming flowers, becoming the objects of admiration for many young men.

A young man fell in love with the younger sister, Feiyun, because she was even more beautiful than her elder sister. The elder sister, Feihe, citing the order of seniority, married the young man instead. But Feihe, worried that her husband might transfer his affection to her sister—and lose the happiness she had just gained—used the excuse that her sister would have difficulty living alone to bring Feiyun to live with them and help share the household chores. From then on, Feiyun became the servant of her sister. All the dirty and heavy chores in the house fell on Feiyun’s shoulders, and any small mistake would draw Feihe’s cold glare, sometimes even abuse and beatings. Before long, Feiyun’s body was weakened from the strain. She wanted to leave her sister but had nowhere to go. She could only run to the mountains to cry. Her eyes turned red from weeping, and her tears soaked the ground. Then, a miracle occurred. Right where her tears had fallen, beams of golden light shot out. With widened eyes, Feiyun saw a pile of gold ingots right in front of her. She could hardly believe her eyes, wondering if she was dreaming. But when she pinched her cheek and felt the pain, she knew it was real. After putting the ingots in her clothes, another spring of cool, clear water gushed out from where the ingots had been. Delighted, she splashed the water on her face. The water was warm and sweet to the taste. The wounds on her face no longer hurt, and looking at herself in the water, her scars had vanished, and her beauty quickly returned. Unable to contain her joy, she took off her clothes and let the spring water cleanse all her wounds. All her injuries disappeared, and her graceful figure was restored. Oh my, it was holy water. Feiyun had been saved by the divine. She immediately decided to use the gold ingots to dig a spring well there, for people to come and heal, and build a temple next to it to worship the spring god.

On the day the Spring God Temple was completed, people came from far and wide to offer incense and seek the holy water. The elder sister, Feihe, also came to celebrate. She asked her sister to accompany her to the spring to wash her face, saying she wanted a face as beautiful as her sister’s. When the two reached the well and looked into it, the elder sister, Feihe, suddenly pushed Feiyun into the well. It turned out the sister was jealous of the worship her younger sister received and wanted to take her place. But what Feihe didn’t expect was that the moment Feiyun fell into the well, the sky turned dark, thunder rolled, lightning flashed, and after a violent storm, the spring well was filled in, and Feiyun became one with the mountain. To remember her kindness and noble act, the mountain was named Feiyun Mountain. As for the elder sister, Feihe, she vanished without a trace.

Nourished by the warmth and vitality of her younger sister Feiyun, the mountain grew taller and taller, and the Spring God Temple stood atop its peak. Feiyun never forgot her mission to benefit the people. Fearless of danger and pressure, deep in the nine layers of earth, together with the hot springs, she struggled upward. After a thousand years of effort, in the 1970s, the hot springs finally burst forth from the cliffs of Feiyun Mountain—not through one, but two openings. At first, people thought it was the efforts of both sisters that caused the two springs, so they named it Shuangfei (Double Flying) Hot Springs. But once the legend was known, the name was rightly changed to Feiyun Hot Springs.

In fact, there aren't just two hot springs on Feiyun Mountain, but a natural cluster of thermal springs. The reason is that the spirit of Feiyun has never stopped pushing upward, and new springs may emerge at any time. It is expected that in the near future, Feiyun Mountain’s hot springs will greet guests as a large-scale hot spring group, making it China’s premier hot spring tourism, holiday, and leisure destination.
