Kaijiang County Museum

Kaijiang Museum includes the Kaijiang County Museum and the Kaijiang County Red Culture Exhibition Hall.

1. The Kaijiang County Museum is located within the Cultural Center compound. It was renovated from the second and third floor exhibition halls of the Cultural Relics Management Office building. The full exhibition setup was completed by the end of April 2016, with a total investment of 610,000 yuan. The exhibition area covers 150 square meters. Due to space constraints, only over 70 cultural relics are on display, with the exhibits focusing on the more representative pieces. After implementing free self-guided visits on May 18, the museum has cumulatively received over 160,000 visitors. The Kaijiang County Museum houses a collection of 1,046 historical relics, including 3 national second-grade relics and 129 third-grade relics. Since the museum was established through renovation, it suffers from poor infrastructure, a small exhibition area, and an inability to better showcase the local cultural heritage or fulfill its social education function. In terms of cultural relic preservation, exhibition displays, and service methods, it cannot keep up with economic and social development, nor meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the general public. There is an urgent need to build a new museum according to first-grade standards, to promote local culture externally through the museum as a medium, convey the characteristics and essence of the local culture, enhance the visibility of regional culture, integrate cultural resources, and carry out research and exploration of local culture, thereby promoting cultural activities, education, and heritage.

2. The Kaijiang County Red Culture Exhibition Hall is part of the Kaijiang Museum. It was reconstructed from the former residence of Wang Pingyi, with a total investment of over 5 million yuan. It covers an area of 780 square meters (including the courtyard), and has a built-up area of 533 square meters. After the main structure was completed in August 2015, the county government invested an additional 1.36 million yuan to arrange and exhibit the Red Culture Exhibition Hall, which officially opened to the public on September 15, 2015. The Red Culture Exhibition Hall consists of 11 exhibition rooms: Part One: Red Soil (4 rooms), Part Two: BaoTa Dam Battle (1 room), Part Three: BaoTa Homes (1 room), and Part Four: Heroes and Their Descendants (5 rooms). Fully leveraging the social education function of the Red Culture Exhibition Hall, through video clips, brochures, on-site explanations, and other means, it has now become a patriotic education base in Dazhou City.

Service Hours Summer (May 1 – October 31): Tuesday – Sunday, 9:00 – 19:00; site clearance, cleaning, and internal organization at 18:30, closing at 19:00. Winter (November 1 – April 30): Tuesday – Sunday, 9:00 – 18:00; site clearance, cleaning, and internal organization at 17:30, closing at 18:00.
