Zhonghe Hao

Zhonghe Hao is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Sichuan Province.

Located in Niufuo Ancient Town in Da’an District, Zigong City, Zhonghe Hao has a history of over a thousand years. The ancient town features nine streets and eighteen lanes, as well as eight provincial, municipal, and district-level cultural heritage sites, including Helou Hall, Wangye Temple, Wanshou Palace, Zhonghe Hao Guild Hall, and Liao Mansion. The numerous historic buildings in the town showcase the typical architectural style of ancient towns in southern Sichuan during the Qing Dynasty.

Built in the first year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty, Zhonghe Hao is one of the three provincial-level cultural heritage sites in the ancient town.

On the right side of Zhonghe Hao’s main gate, there are two stone steles that record its designation as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in February 2009 and as a provincial-level cultural heritage site in July 2012.

At the entrance of Zhonghe Hao, there is an informational plaque that reads: Zhonghe Hao was built in the first year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty, oriented from northeast to southwest, and features a traditional quadrangle layout consisting of a mountain gate, main hall, and left and right wing rooms, covering a total area of 1,200 square meters. The main structure is a single-eave, flush-gable roof made of brick and wood with a post-and-lintel construction. The roof ridges, clay sculptures, wood carvings, and stone engravings are all well-preserved. Zhonghe Hao holds significant reference value for the study of residential architecture in Zigong during the Qing Dynasty.
