The Mosuo Museum is China's and the world’s only thematic museum that systematically showcases the history, culture, and folk customs of the Mosuo people. It began trial operations in January 2014 and was officially designated as the “Sichuan Museum – Mosuo Museum” in October 2014. As an important part of the construction and protection of the Mosuo homeland, the architectural design of the Mosuo Museum fully incorporates traditional Mosuo cultural elements. The exhibited artifacts include stone tools, bronzeware, pottery, and relics from the chieftain system, as well as Mosuo folk items unearthed in the Yanyuan and Lugu Lake areas. These range from simple stone tools used by ancient humans to various objects used in Mosuo social life during the Ming and Qing dynasties — a rich and diverse collection of forms and styles. The bronzeware and pottery are exquisitely crafted, comparable to the artifacts unearthed from the Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites. The Mosuo soul-guiding scripture is shrouded in mystery and is truly one of a kind.

Lugu Lake Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yanyuan County. Established as Yanhai Township in 1952, restructured as a commune in 1972, renamed Donghai Mongolian Ethnic Township in 1984, and upgraded to Lugu Lake Town in 1992. Located in the northwestern part of the county, it faces Yunnan Province across Lugu Lake. It is 118 kilometers from the county seat, covering an area of 283 square kilometers with a population of 10,000. The Yan-Zuo Highway leads directly to the town. It administers eight village committees: Muhan, Duoshe, Bajia, Haimen, Bushu, Nawo, Zhipu, and Shekua. The main agricultural products are corn, coarse grains, and potatoes, with bilateral white melon seeds being an export commodity.
