Balahu Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Balahu Scenic Area (Urban Canyon) — Located at the core of the three major urban clusters in Qianjiang: the main city, the new city of Zhoubai, and Zhengyang. “Balahu,” meaning “canyon” in the Tujia language, represents the landscapes and culture of Qianjiang. Known as “China’s only urban grand canyon and the world’s rare conglomerate karst cave group,” it creates a globally rare and Asia-exclusive urban spectacle where “the city stands above the canyon, and the canyon lies at the city’s center.” The canyon features peaks on both sides with elevations of over 1,100 meters, characterized by karst landforms that span seven geological eras and stretch 10 kilometers in length, covering an area of 723 hectares. With an average depth of 200 meters and a maximum drop of 500 meters, the area integrates scenic elements such as “mountains, water, canyons, caves, pavilions, temples, and Guanyin statues,” earning it the reputation among visitors as “the most spiritually uplifting place in China.”
