Guide: Located near the southwestern coast of Sanya, there are two small islands standing opposite each other. The waters around these islands are abundant with sea turtles, which is why they are called East Hawksbill Island and West Hawksbill Island. West Island refers to West Hawksbill Island. Introduction: Covering an area of 2.6 square kilometers, West Island is home to a population of over 3,000 residents who have made fishing their generations-long livelihood. The water here has a visibility of over 10 meters, and the area is rich in marine resources, especially abalone, lobsters, pearl oysters, jellyfish, and tropical ornamental fish, making it one of Hainan’s ancient island fishing villages. The island boasts beautiful scenery — in the early morning, mist rises, shrouding the sea and sky in a hazy veil; when the sun rises above the horizon, the sea surface is tinged with a flush of red, creating a colorful view. At noon, sunlight creates a fine mist over the sea, with the indistinct small islands appearing and disappearing mysteriously, adding to their charm. West Island Marine Entertainment World offers a wide variety of marine leisure and recreational activities, including fishing, diving, jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing, sailing, banana boating, sea walking, and glass-bottom boat tours. The Fishing Club is currently the largest and best fishing club in Sanya, located in the eastern waters of West Island. The largest fishing platform spans over 200 square meters and can accommodate more than 100 people fishing at once. Experienced fishing instructors are always on hand to provide guidance, and the fish caught can be prepared into delicious fresh soup on the spot or taken to island restaurants for cooking. Legend has it that long ago, the dragon prince, in his quest to create an elixir of immortality, frequently harmed the lives of fishermen in the South China Sea, making every fishing trip perilous. Upon learning this, the compassionate Goddess Guanyin sent two divine turtles from heaven to guard the South China Sea. With the turtles present, the dragon prince could no longer cause harm, and the fishermen were able to live peaceful and prosperous lives. Over thousands of years, wind and sand shaped these two turtles into what are now known as the East and West Islands. Entertainment Activities Introduction: Scuba Diving: Put on a wetsuit, undergo basic training, and take a speedboat to a vessel offshore. Then, equipped with an oxygen tank and diving goggles, enter the water directly from the boat under the guidance of an instructor. Descend slowly to deeper parts of the sea — depending on your physical condition, you can typically dive 10–18 meters deep and easily become an ambassador of the underwater world. Jet Skiing: Jet skiing combines competition, thrill, and appreciation, and is a modern high-tech water sport focused on speed. The races are spectacular, intense, and thrilling, with roaring engines, splashing waves, and heart-pounding excitement. Jet skiing has become an increasingly popular water-based leisure activity in recent years. Parasailing: A high-powered speedboat pulls a parachute into the air, using the boat's speed to keep the parachute aloft. Weather and wind direction should be considered when engaging in parasailing. Strong winds can make landing difficult or even cause you to land in the sea, but it remains safe. Sea Fishing: West Island is known for its sea fishing. The platform includes private cabins and music tea lounges, allowing visitors to enjoy tea and fishing in a tranquil setting accompanied by soft music. Fishing instructors are always available for guidance, and the fish you catch can either be cooked into a fresh seafood soup on-site or taken to island restaurants for preparation. The platform offers hundreds of easy-to-use fishing rods, and the surrounding waters feature tens of thousands of artificial fish shelters with continuous baiting, attracting large schools of fish. This makes for a bountiful fishing experience. The club also provides luxury speedboats for romantic offshore fishing adventures, letting guests sail into the open sea and cast long lines for big catches. Dining / Accommodation / Shopping: Dining: Guests can visit the 900-square-meter seaside restaurant within the entertainment world to enjoy a wide range of wild seafood and Hainan specialties.
