During this year's Spring Festival golden week, Sanya City in Hainan Province launched self-drive campsites for the first time. Since their inauguration on February 8, these campsites have been fully booked.
This Spring Festival, Sanya established a self-drive campsite market in response to the increasing number of car travelers and self-guided camping tourists. Four campsites were set up, including at Sanya No. 9 Primary School and Sanya Sports Center. At Sanya No. 9 Primary School, a traveler from Beijing who arrived in an RV said: “I signed up online to come here. The most convenient part is that the site already has basic living facilities such as lighting, electrical outlets, portable toilets, showers, garbage collection, clotheslines, and drinking water, as well as road traffic signage. Moreover, there are staff from law enforcement, tourism, public security, and fire departments on 24-hour duty patrols. It’s really safe and comfortable.”
At the Sanya Sports Center campsite, a young man named Zhang Chen said he drove from Guangzhou. Here, the cost per person for camping is only 20 yuan. His family of five spent just 100 yuan to cover their accommodation for the Spring Festival golden week.
